I really, really hate (yes, hate) the overdone lips, the pursed lips, the puffed lips. It is a distraction and not positive at all. That is a nice looking young lady except for the lips thing.

In the Random picture thread, there are pictures of all sorts of things. I'm sure that we all agree that a woman in a bathing suit is something that can be seen anywhere except for a Mosque. It wasn't as if I posted nudes, right?
My humor is often on the edge, I know that. I talk the same way that I write. I am not a hypocrite. Maybe stuff gets tolerated until it appears that the "offensive" matter outnumbers the non offensive ??
I wasn't making any specific effort to trigger any trouble. What is funny to me can be "over the line" to others. I've dealt with this all my life. Imagine having THIS brain driving your decisions 24 hours a day...

For the uninitiated, a Palmetto bug is a cockroach.

Let's put it this way (since everyone's Granma's seem to be dead) ....would you accompany her to Church dressed like that? And be happy to sit and talk with your Clergyman with her dressed like that.....and I don't mean that YOU would be dressed like that.

Keep this (edge) in mind before you move to the Bible belt...the South. The nice, old blue-haired Baptist (etc) ladies and their families will not like or approve of it. They maintain/expect high moral standards... Pentecostal levels. They do not appreciate off-color humor or language. Your lovely wife is a book author? What types of subject matter? You and the wife (Californians) might not integrate with the locals quickly. How important is it for you and the wife to have friends?

All that being said, you'll have to ask residents of Tennessee what is the "lay of the land" in their neck of the woods and then determine if it's for you (and the wife). Personally, I love Tennessee.

Wifey is not an author, she does editing for authors. She works in computer software and Information Technologies.
Me? If I lived my life trying to please everyone, I'd never be happy. I'd rather have 2 good friends than a bunch of people that I know but barely care about. I don't cut loose on everyone but I am one to speak my mind and spill my unconventional views on them.
Thank you for the advice though. I do test the waters with people to see what their limits are. I can restrain myself for several minutes at a time when I have to.
