soft brakes all new components

I hvae a 73 sattellite with all new brake components, stock replacements on all components with the exception of the proprtioning valve, which is a new, as close to stock, as possible.
Power Disc/Drum setup.
The brake pedal is very soft, almost no brakes when pushed and travels all the way to the floor. It will stop but barely.
The brakes have been bled using every method known to mankind, gravity, vacume, and the old fashioned push the pedal methods. I am fairly certain there is no air in the system.

I decided the new master cylinder must be bad, so I replaced it, and still have the same issue, everything I know tells me this one is bad also, but I want to get some advice from those on this forum before swapping out another new master cylinder.

Some things I have done to troubleshoot are:

1: Adjusted the back brake shoes all the way out, and re-bled everything. no difference
2: Blocked off both lines at the mater cylinder with plugs. (This made the pedal rock hard as expected, and no sinking pedal)
3: Blocked off only front line at MC and left rear hooked up. This gave me a descent pedal feel and back brakes were working.(this tells me my issue in front system)
4: Blocked off only rear at MC with front hooked up. (back to a soft pedal traveling to the floor.)
5: I have adjusted the push rod from the vacume booster to every possible position, even to the point the brakes are applied withouth the pedal, and still have a soft pedal with too much travel.

The front brakes will engage to the point where you can not turn wheel by hand.

I have been told that maybe the mater cylinder plunger is too small and not pushing enough fluid, how would I confirm that?
Maybe there is still air in it, how would I know that?

Yes I bench bled the mater cylinder.
There are absolutely no leaks anywhere.

I am not opposed to buying a new new aftermarket type MC if I can be sure that is the issue, and someone can recommend a specific one that will work.

Confused and getting impatient. I want to get this resolved so I can move on to the next system.
Please help
 
measure the piston diameter of the master cylinder. i think power disc's were 1 1/8".
 
Not sure if this is possible to do but ... are the caliper bleeder screws on the low side?
 
Was going to ask the same question. If the bleeder screws are on the bottom you are fighting a losing battle. Need to swap the calipers from side to side and have the bleeder screws on top so the air can escape. Ask me how I know this.

hi my name is joe I have got a 1965 dodge with the same problem replace ever thing even a new 68 master clyrwith disk front drum rear tried every thing if you find what it is let me now thank you joe
 
Have you adjusted the rod that sits inside the servo (booster) before attaching the master cylinder?
 
thanks for the come back I have manual brakes. anr the push rod has gor 1/4 of free play thank you
 
Fixed, and I get my STUPID STAMP

I had the front calipers on the wrong side, bleeder screws on bottom, I know better than that and have looked at this thing 100 times. As I was bleeding them one more time last night I finally noticed it, proceeded to kick myself in the ***, twice, which is no small feat at my age, swapped the calipers rebled and all is well in brake land.

I will accept and enjoy reading all comments on how stupid I am now.
 
Thanks for posting the resolution to your problem ... so many of us neglect to do that ... I'm sure it will help someone else in the future.
 
Dumb ***... Just kidding. Now I need to go check mine just to make sure. Good deal you figured it out though.
 
How much brake fluid did you go through trying to get them bled? I was at my usual cruise night a week or two ago and was listening to these two guys go on and on about how they couldn't get the brakes right. They went through over a gallon and a half of brake fluid and three days before they realized the calipers were on wrong. DOH! No worries and glad I could help.

the bleeder also is on top .also blead them 6 times the last time with a presser bleader thank you guys the help joe
