Sold a car on eBay - Your Safe Transaction Tips?

Nothing surprises me anymore. I read stories about the lengths a criminal will go to rip someone off and I just shake my head. I don't have the energy for that crap.
I come from an era where a handshake was better than a contract with 100 lawyers.
I bought and sold two houses the last two years on a hand shake. I stuck out my hand and told them, you shake this hand we're done here, understand. They did and it worked out. Later we signed the paper work and that was that.

Wire transfer 1st. Is hands down the easiest and Ive sold several cars this way

cashiers ck 2nd, and with that title or car goes no where till all clears the bank 7 days

Any other way, walk away

This is a great thread. A lot of interesting stuff. For you sellers of vehicles…if you receive a wire transfer does your bank record that transaction with the IRS? If so, would it be considered taxable?

This is a great thread.
Lots of good things here. I have my '67 Coronet Wagon on eBay right now. Wish I'd seen this thread before I finalized my ad.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve writing my next eBay ad, (I'll be selling a '77 Dodge Monaco Crestwood wagon sometime soon) I'm all ears.

Update:

For those of you who missed it, here is my eBay listing that hasn't been deleted by eBay yet: https://www.ebay.com/itm/124916422818

Funds Transfer: Bank Wire Transfer. My bank charged me a $15 dollar fee. If I had gone through my Credit Union, it probably would have been less or not at all?

Transport: He hired a small independent one-man show to haul the car. He was very professional.

New owner: He got the car and is very happy with it. Left me positive feedback on eBay.

Below a pic of the car loaded up and ready to go. I am please that I specified to keep the car in the States and not ship it over seas. It has a happy new home a few states away in Colorado. All is well that ends well...

I'm not that smart! It would take me weeks to remember that one. With me it was a firm hand shake and that look, It's a special look of, this is my word and it better be you word at the other end of that hand shake. Obviously not binding in court, but a gentlemens agreement.
