on my 440 I did a Major bit of tuning up from fuel line to spark plugs and wires. Car has ran fantastic for two days. last night I was rerouting wires that were close to exhaust on passenger side to run behind the alternator. I did not touch the alternator wires, I did have to pull the number 4 wire from the plug to organize the wires for the new run. I did not take any wires off the distributor cap. This morning I went to turn the car over got a small spark on the negative battery terminal when I hit the key, nothing else just the spark. This happened 6 more times, I went to check the wires on the passenger side, nothing seemed out of place or to have any issues, moved them to look at all routing location and ALT wires, and nothing strange to report. Go back in the car, hit the key starts right up, no spark. did it 5 more times, still started right up.

Anyone know what happened? I would like to fix whatever caused it, especially if its just something simple or lose.

Sounds like a loose connection at the battery terminal. Whatever you moved around made the connection better and it started

I would think if you are getting a small spark at the negative terminal...then the negative side of the battery does not have a good, solid connection. Try: pulling the negative lead off; cleaning both the cable end & battery terminal; then reconnect and ensure to use some 'German torque' (good-n-tight).

I agree with the last two posters...loose connection

Thank you guys. "good-n-tight" funny, love it, "Danken"

Will give that a gook look over, cleaning and reconnect. I think I will also look that did not pinch any of the leads around the alternator.

Thing is running too good for stupid problems.

thanks again

thanks guys it was the negative cable at the battery. considering I did not even disconnect it, I cant figure out how it got loose.

thanks for all the help.
