I am going to be putting in a new electronic distributor setup. I am looking to put in new plugs and wires as well. I currently have Bosch copper plugs in. What do you guys recommend?
It depends on the year. Stock 318 would run a N14y champian plug from 1967 until 1970. 1971 and 1972 they used a N13Y champian plug and 1965 and 1966 they ran a J14Y. Hope that helps.
Its fairly stock just 600cfm 4 barrel with dual plane, and headers. Its a 71 and they quit makin N13Y, I went to the Champion site and they recommend RN14YC. Thanks for the info
I would also recommend Champion. I remember reading in some MoPar literature that the factory designed the engine and ignition systems to work best with them. I'm actually running RN9YC's in my 318. An NGK BP6ES will also work... It depends on if you have any problems with fouling plugs. I don't, so I run the colder plug to help fight detonation with today's junk gas. Oh sorry, that may not be politically correct I meant "less than optimal" gas.
Champions here. And dont get goofy with plug wires, in your combo you wont notice any gains, save your money. Just a quality middle of the road set will do.
Champions is what Mopar used and that is what I have always used.I have never had any trouble with Champion plugs. When it comes to wires I use Taylor wires.
Ok thanks for the suggestions. I just picked up a set Moroso blue max wires, and I'll probably be heading down to the autozone this weekend to pick up some champion plugs.
