I,m not having much luck finding a good clutch style sure grip..Thinking about a spool...I have a detroit locker in my cruiser and it works ok..Not much chirping of the tires as long as your not on it hard..Will a spool act the same way?I have heard pros and cons about the spool...What do you guys think?
Thanks for the input!!

Spool ?

Ever driven a car with a spool ? Chirps the inside tire every corner. Sort of annoying. Got to be bad for the rearend.

I wouldn't do it on the street. I tried it once, when I was 19 and REALLY stupid (now I'm just regular stupid). Everything was alright until the first time the road was wet and I had to go in a direction other than straight. It ended up costing me one rear Centerline, but it could have been a whole lot worse. Thankfully, I learned my lesson.

It depends on how much trouble you're willing to deal with and how you use the car. Like mentioned, wet roads can be dangerous with one. Is the car used a lot? Hard on the rear? It's hard on stock axles because they become one axle. They are locked 100% of the time.....

sure grip

there's no shortage of sure grips, not here anyway. It' s a money shortage.A local guy here has 2 or 3 clutch type with no gears from 275-350.just sayin :angel1:

I have been running a spool for about 6 or so years and have no problems. I have ET streets on the car and they make no noise when I turn. The corners of the tires are starting to round off a little. I keep more air in the tire for just cruising. The one thing I hate is the tire does stretch when you turn and mine will rub the outter wheelwell if i am not careful. The wet weather is another thing, not very good at all.
