Stained Intake - Suggestions?

Sounds like i should have finished reading that thread.

I'd try the CLR. That stuff should take it off. All else fails have it blasted and cleared.

I send my intakes to LeAnna. I have them power coated in "Alien Silver" which has a fresh new aluminum intake look to it. Go to the web site and look or ask for a picture of what the color looks like.

Sorry, I can not help on the cleaning of it part. I have never seen or noticed that before.

That is what I have been telling him to do.
It's not hard to pull, but getting it to Leann and having her "do her thing" is the best soloution.

Lol this escalated quickly!!

And sure it still works like it should but when you finally have under hood in a place where you're happy and proud to leave the hood up at cruise nights it sucks making a bonehead mistake.

So Update... I tried some Rim Cleaner this morning and a toothbrush... We're looking good!

Not that I didn't like this option Super-bee-ski and rumblefish or know that it would have solved my problem the issue being cross border shipping I would have likely been cheaper to but a whole new intake!

See just like mothers wheel polish glad it worked, no one listens to me dam it lol

I did do essentially what you said bigmanjb... rim cleaner, let it sit then brush out. Worked like a charm! Could see it was gone damn near instantly

Cool, the mag wheel cleaner seemed to do the trick. As an alternative I have used aluminum jelly to clean stained aluminum parts. Also the purple soap containing sodium hydroxide but don't leave that on too long or the part will turn gray. Phosphoric acid can desmut the aluminum if it turns gray.

Thanks for all the mentions! It looks like this has worked out for the moment, but keep in mind that any fuel leaks are going to leave you right back where you were at the start.

Essentially, that is my point. so, having CudaChick & Phoenix Specialty Coatings powder coat the manifold, you "cure" the problem, AND it looks good.
But; just cleaning it, well, that is a band-aid" fix

Anyway, congrads on your fix...thanks to all the great suggestions on this Forum.
