Stock 69 GTX 440 4bbl auto. On occasion, at very low speeds, it stalls. Then it starts up again with no problem. This has happened a couple of times. :eusa_whistle:

a bit more exact info is needed.does it stumble and stall or just turn off?does it happen in a turn, going strait, while slowing down or at diff times?did you just drive it hard before that or dont matter?

It just dies. No stumbling or hint it will quit. Happens when I am almost stopped like going through a drive through or coming to a stop sign/traffic light. Hard driving or not. Just starts up again like nothing happened.

what is your idle rpm?in gear if auto.what carb you running?

boy thats a strange one.dosnt sound like component over heat.make sure choke is adjusted and tight when warm.might not be a bad idea to pull the top off the carb just to make sure nothing is floating around inside the bowl.

I wonder if it's not something shorting out.

I had a problem similar to what you describe. Although mine wouldn't start back up until I got out and wiggled the bulkhead connections. My bulkhead was oxidized like crazy. Cleaned it up, added a little dielectric grease and problem solved.

Electrical or fuel problem? Todays gas boils out and I think stock carbs have it worse than after market? Electrical if your gauges all die? Would it die if you sat in the driveway in park and revved it to 1500 and held it? or did that let off and then it dies or do you have to be moving and come to a stop?

Not a gas boiling problem as the temp is around 190 or lower. It always happens when I'm stopped or nearly stopped. It just dies. Then starts right up again. :icon_cry:

Did you check the bulk head wires? fuel pump push rod wearing out?

I just had same issue slowing down at low speed .It was just like you turned the ignition switch off.It was my coil going bad .
