I know there are a couple of threads here on this topic already with a lot of examples where resourceful Mopar folks have been successful with "non-RobbMC" starters in this situation and a few failures as well.
I've got a factory 440 original going back into my 1968 Charger RT that also has its original A-833 drive train. The previous set of rusty headers were some unidentified white thermal coated 2" long tubes that worked with the factory starter just fine.
TTI is now noting on their Bill of Sale that when installing 1 7/8 TTI's I ordered, with the 4spd with 11"/143 tooth flywheel, only the RobbMC will fit. I think there are better high torque starter options for same or less money so this question is about your experience with those, fit and value.
Anyone here know better from doing a recent install? Not sure if anything has changed with their headers lately and trying to avoid trial and error or TTI not wanting to cut it too close.
I will say when they get here, I'm going to try with the factory starter but would rather do a high torque unit.
Thanks for your valuable inputs in advance, I'm new on this forum but have had my Charger 25 years now and finally getting the time to do the drive train so I can play this summer, body after that. Not afraid to spend obviously for the good stuff, just don't like to overpay unnecessarily either.
