Three holley 2 barrels, 0-4365-1 is the center carb.

They work great except for starting. After sitting overnite
the carb loses its prime. Cranking for several seconds and
pumping the accelerator will prime it again. But i can't believe
this is how it is supposed to work.

I do know the accelerator pump is leaking - replacing tommorow

could this be the problem? How about the fuel pump?

Leaking float needle ? I know the gas has a tendencie of evaporating through the vents. Mine takes about 15 seconds of cranking after about a week. a electric fuel pump will cure it .

If your accelerator pump leaks enough to drain the float bowl,,, then I would say yes,,, it would lead to prolonged cranking to fill it back up. This is one heck of a leak though!!!!
Do you get fuel with each pump of the pedal before cranking, or only after a few revolutions of the engine with the starter?
If you get fuel with repeated pumps of the pedal without cranking the engine, then you should look elsewhere for your hard start condition "perhaps choke settings, or procedure itself". The inlet of the fuel line is higher than the fuel level in the bowl,,, so I would say a fuel pump problem would not cause your bowls to go empty..... "Not unless your part of the world has a polar shift in gravity that is..."
Regards,,,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I love this site.! You know what - my fuel line may be higher than the fuel bowl,
because it is routed over the distributor.

Thanks again.

All my old Mopars do the same thing after sitting a few days. Crappy alcohol gas today. On my six pack car I added an electric pump, low on the frame rail in front of the r.r. tire.

None of my old Mopars have done this..... It's not normal!!!!
I can start mine without the pump running electric or mechanical, with a simple procedure of pressing the pedal to the floor a couple times and hitting the ignition. On my 67 I flip the fuel pump switch AFTER the engine starts.. I can also leave a can of gasoline out in the garage for MANY days with the vent open,,,, and guess what???? I still have gas in the can when I go out to fill the mowers. Your carbs bowls should hold fuel long enough for it to varnish,,, not evaporate, or leak, or anything else... "todays fuel" or not...
I'm sure with leak repairs, and consistent starting procedures "perhaps choke adjustments and fast idle cam adjustments" you'll find that your Mopar will be happy and so will you!
Happy Moparing!!!!

Today's fuel in a hot normally aspirated motor does indeed go away.

Thanks for all the advice.

I did replace the accelerator pump. Seems it didn't have a gasket --- the new one was molded right to the pump.

For the most part seems to have resolved the problem. Starts after overnight. After 2 weeks remains to be seen.
