We had a great day at Pacific Raceways this past weekend!
Things didn’t start too well as my lights were all over the place in my (2) time runs. I swapped sides from .050 red to .064 green, and started wondering about my new heart meds and how they may be effecting me. But I was able to stay on the green side of things when it counted, and the big yellow sled was a copy-machine! The day started with a new best of 11.079 @ 120.50 in the cool am air. Then it ripped off 4 straight runs within .004 of each other (11.105; 11.106; 11.107; 11.109). Late in eliminations when it started cooling off a bit and I was driving the stripe, incrementals still had me within .01 of these numbers. I was able to park the dial at 11.11 and put the car where it needed to be on the big end repeatedly. The car was carrying me for sure, and together we waded through an 85-car field, & into the semi-finals before bowing out at 4 cars. It was a 9 second ‘68 Dart that put an .030 package on the table to finally put me away for the day. The final was an all Mopar affair; Eventual winner was a good buddy with a small block powered ‘70 Challenger.
I’m stoked with the cars ability to repeat. I think the new fuel delivery system was a big piece to the puzzle. We recently upgraded to a solid Aeromotive system with a return line and the pressure guage now appears literally pinned to the 6-lb mark.
Additionally, I feel great about how the car leaves the beams. If I can just “SEE” the last amber and let it fly, It seems to be right on time! if I can just be more consistent with that, I’m set!
I hope you all are enjoying your season thus far. I’m lagging in the points chase as I’ve had struggles both with the car and my own health, but I feel like things are coming together!
