STEELIES

I have always loved the sleeper look of steelies. I mix it up a bit on my car once in awhile.

As for putting the 10" caps on a 9" cap wheel, I epoxied a smaller hubcap inside a larger cap so I could use the 15x8 Wheel Vintiques steelies on the back.

I think I'll try what Dodge330 did. Car looks ok with the GTX caps. But I want the original '65's.

Some photos of friend's cars with steelies, as well as some that switch from chrome to steel from time to time.

Just make sure you glue them on straight.
They would look bad if you don't. But you could just get the correct wheel centers and get the correct wheels , for your caps , built.

I looked into that and the cost was prohibitive. At least for me! Cost for centers, bands, powder coating, labor, tax and shipping was close to $1000.
I thought about making a jig that would center the small cap in place and another to hold and center the larger cap while the glue cures. I'm concerned about the weight of the urethane, epoxy, or whatever type adhesive is used. It has to be solid enough not to bend or dent when installing and removing the cap but light enough not to go flying off at speed!

Yes , I understand it's not cheap. Nothing in this Mopar hobby is cheap. Also if getting the centers made was cheap , then someone before me would have already done it. I will leave it as you get what you pay for in most cases.
Happy New Year to all !!!

I have an a-body that I put steelies on the back with no caps, and have Cragars on the front, all sbp.
I don't like the front offset, and I have a set of chrome reverse that I was thinking of using on the front, although a little rusty in the center.
Wasn't sure if it would look good, but I dig it.
A little rust repair and crappy chrome paint in the center might work too.

Chrome with caps look good. This was a Valiant from a few years ago
