So i am trying to get the shifter tube out of the column, but the reverse light thing-a-ma-bobber is preventing it from sliding out. How do you get this apart?

I have a 65 Plymouth Belvedere ,if yours is the same has mine ,there is a washer that slide over the bar that activates the backup light switch, remove the washer, them spread the arm in the middle and remove it ,dont break the arm ,i think they are very tough to come by.hope that helps

i don't think its the same, its like a piece of plastic that sticks out of the tube and engages with the reverse switch.

it looks like i might just be popped in there, it does spin a little but it won't pull out. i'm gonna try twisting and pulling at the same time...

well, i broke it. anyone know where i can get a new one?
