Need some help with the steering column from my 1970 coronet, aut. first problem, there is a bearing missing in the lower part and I found one that I think might fit but I dont have the 3 holes to attach it.
Second problem when I am in reverse and turn the steering wheel the shifter moves to drive, is the problem in the "cam"? Should´nt it be "locked" in reverse, as now I can go from reverse to drive just pushing the shifter up or down, there is no stop.

If the bearing you have is the correct inner/outer diameters, you should be able to drill the three small holes in the outer tube.
The column shift lever should have a return spring (not sure what it should look like though), if you pull the lever back to select a gear, it would normally return to the forward position(as such)......is it spring loaded?
