Hello, one of the things that I really dislike about the early Mopars is the lack of a collapsible column. I just always picture myself impaled on the steering shaft. I've read that you can swap a 66 column into a 65 b-body, but the collapsible feature didn't start until 1967. Will a 67 column bolt into a 64 dodge? This is for a manual box, push button car. Thanks.

I sort of answered this on my own. 66 will not swap with 67, and in fact the earlier dash frame won’t accept the thicker tube OD of the later column. This leaves aftermarket (way more than I am looking to spend) or possibly finding a small OD collapsible column from a different make/body style to swap in. Early A-body maybe? Thanks

There is no easy solution to the safety issues with older cars. No air bags, no anti-lock brakes, no traction control, no shoulder belts, etc. Just how it is. It is way beyond the capabilities of most hot rodders to add any safety features to an old car. Some people try but they often make things worse in the process. Best advice is to not put a lot of miles on them and be careful when you do drive them.

Good news is that you can put radial tires, disc brakes and a decent suspension under the older cars so they'll at least stop and go around corners. But the safety stuff is tough to do.
