I'm using a '65 V8 manual steering box on my AWB project with the factory '64 Dodge steering shaft and coupler. The coupler seems a bit too small for the steering box shaft but it is slashed so there is room to spread it. I just didn't thik that looked too safe. Is there a cut-off year for a larger steering box shaft (like '65) or is there another donor I can seek out for a coupler? I'm currently out of stock.

IIRC, the 65 up went with the newer one piece coupler that uses the roll pin instead of the clamp type. They are about 3" long....

I actually have one of the longer couplers (with no guts) from a '65 Coronet power steering box but the hole still looks too small and there is no slash in the end for room to move like the '64 one. Could be the difference between power and manual boxes.

Personally, I'd go to a universal coupler!Around $75.00 dollars from summit,or speedway.

That's a solid looking swivel joint.

Hey Hemi-itis, did you weld an extension on your steering shaft? It looks tapered.

When I blew up my 440 {kicked a rod} about 12 years ago,I bought a Hemi from my old friend Peter Pudlin and he loaned me a set of his Hooker headers and the oem crossram from his 65 superstock Dodge while I made weekly payments to him for the engine. The steering shaft was rubbing a tube and instead of dinging the tube,I ground a taper in the shaft.:usa2:

Here is a picture of my reunion with THAT S/S Dodge at the ALL HEMI REUNION a few years back:munky2:
