Steering Wheel Column Distance

So I installed my steering wheel column to ensure I had all the parts and for fitment. However, the steering wheel is just too close to my chest and my elbows bent to far as well. I've double checked the seat rails, they move freely and all the way forward and back. I've attached several pictures for your feedback.

Steering collum original to the car? Is the coupling engaged with the steering box splines? If the answer is yes to these questions, then the only thing it could be is you have the bracket on backwardsView attachment 1643026

I believe the seat rails/brackets are on correctly. However, I’ll check again.
