This may have been covered in another thread, but just unsure about using an A100 axle in a 64 Polara. I have been told it should be shortened by about two inches. I realize this axle has been used uncut in others projects over the years. In some pics the tracking width just appears too wide for the car. Is this correct? I cant seem to find any specs on the tracking width of a 64 Polara and an A100 van to compare. Also, does the aftermarket make drop axles for this application? Speedway has some custom length kits, but not with a drop. Anyone use one? Im getting close to starting the front on my AWB project and would like to figure this out before spending the $ on a setup. Any help on this greatly appreciated. Thanks!

before I went to the trouble of cutting down the axle, I would use it and change the backspacing in the wheels each an inch or what ever is needed for the tracking, would be easier and a safer set-up

The 50in from Speedway is the perfect width. You can mount the straight axle on top of the springs,Speedway leaves the perches off so you can do what ever you'd like.Spring over or under the axle.Only thing I don't like about their setup is the short 32in. springs I.M.O.

Thanks for the input. I got my hands on an A100 axle over the weekend. I will figure it out once I get it under the car and do some measuring.

Let me know if you need any measuring help. I'm at about the same stage as you by the sounds of it. I was trying to decide weather or not to take 2" out of my axle as well but I think that it may be o.k. with some skinny fronts with the right off-set.
