Strange knob under dash on driver's side.

1967 Coronet 4 door: I have had the car for a little while now, a couple months, and as far as I can see I can not find what this little black knob is for. it pulls out and my dad thought it was a manual choke, but the choke in here is automatic. Trying to trace the 'cord' left be at a blank because it runs up under the dash and I lose it easily. I will post a pic when I can find a camera if needed.

the one on my 67 opens and closes the fresh air vent.yours may be disconected.follow the cable(if there is one)and it will prob lead up to the air duct by the kick pannel.
