Strange S60

I'd highly recommend the Dana since you're going with a 499 inch stroker using 240 heads. That engine will be around 600 hp even with a modest hyd roller cam. You'll have 600+ torque as well. I'd go with the S60 with the S Trac differential. If you want 3.23 gears they are available. You'll have enough torque to get rolling with that engine and you'll have enough power to push the car as fast as you want. Better put big brakes up front if you have a lead foot since you'll need them.

I am changing the gears in my Dana 60 in the next couple of weeks. I'm interested to get you guys opinions on those 3.23 gears mentioned above. The GTX has 4.10's now.
I remember an old adage : "Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean that you SHOULD do it."
I am not a racer, just a cruiser and a GTX lover. I just want to drop the revs on the engine so that my wife and I can talk in normal voices while we ride!
Thanks in advance, you guys are a great resource.

As far as I know, the 3.23's are something new for the 60 as they weren't offered with them from the factory. Going from a 4.10 to the 3.23 is a tad over a 20% difference.....

3.23 gears would be great for highway driving, especially if your engine is stock or slightly warmed over. If the cam is too big then sometimes you can have issues with the engine lugging but if the cam is stock or near stock size then 3.23 gears will be great for cruising. If you have a mild cam then you might want to stay with a 3.54 gear.

Everything is pretty tame with the 440. When I first got the GTX, one of my sons and I were taking it for a ride and he was driving. He took off and when he tried to shift to 3rd, there was nothing there - he had started in 3rd and didn't even know it. So, it is geared pretty low.
Yes, I saw the link to the 3.23 gears from above posted by Toolmanmike, so I went and checked them out.
Cranky - agreed on the 20%. I think I'm going to give it a shot, I will report back and let you all know how it works out.
Thanks everybody, it is nice to have so much wisdom available.

I did end up going with the 3.23's in a Strange 60 from Cass. No regrets at all. My rear tires are 28" tall and the motor ended up at 595hp and 605 ft lbs. and backed by a 18 spline 4-speed.

That's good to know, thanks.

Took off in 3rd thinking it was in 1st with a Viper one time and it did it without complaining. That V10 was just so dang smooth lol. Thing is, 90 in 3rd wasn't a problem at all! Didn't take long for me to fall in love with that car.....

That's a pretty good range - from 0 to 90 in one gear!

Any of you guys purchased a complete Strange S60 from Dr. Diff or directly from Strange for your B-body? Thinking about getting one for my Bee project that will have 550-600 hp. Did you go with the standard Trac-lock or upgrade to Truetrac or Detroit locker? Were the gears set up nice with no noise?

The '71 Charger has the S60 4.10:1 with spool and 1350 Yoke. No issues, but I did not care for the axle end hardware (the bolt/studs that hold the axles in and the brakes on.)

I replaced those studs and nuts with the Mopar style.

Ordered mine with 4.10 on Black Friday super smooth with the helical set up
