Street/strip legal racing harness/seat belts?

Why would anyone voluntarliy want to speak with the DMV? :)

I ran them for 20 years and never had a problem.

Well I did "voluntarily" call them, and my way of thinking is why not call? I just want to make sure my car is completely street legal.
When I was young I could not have cared less, but at my age I don't need to waste any of the short time or little money I have left being hassled and/or fined
by the cops.
The DMV told me to call the local police dept. The person there said any belts are ok but they didn't seem to be very smart., I still need more convincing. So I will be calling the DOT next.

One more thing I remembered the police dept saying was that the replacement belts had to be installed by a professional mech.. lol!

I have never had an inspection of a vehicle (Street Car) where the seat belts were even looked at. Lights, glass, horn, etc... Never have the belts been looked at.
What states have an inspection that calls for a specific seatbelt?

Well I guess I'll ask the officer if they'd prefer stock belts or my 5 point SFI 3" harness for their safety.

I'm running antique plates so no inspection, and I live in the county where there is no inspection anyway. I just don't want a cop pulling me over and hassling me about race belts.
As I said before race belts are safer in most any situation, but one other little unsafe thing about race belts on the street or strip for me in my car will be that when strapped in I won't be able to reach the key switch in case of hung throttle or similar. I am thinking about looking for a "kill all" switch that will attach on the steering wheel or somewhere close.
