I just swapped out to some 18s and decided to go from factory correct to a pro touring set up. What are your thoughts on adding stripes to a non-RT car? Black of course.

If your intention is to have the car suit your personal preference and not what the fender tag says, do what makes you happy. If you are presenting the car as "correctly restored" it's probably best to follow tag/build sheet specs.

I hear that....but to my eye they just don't look right without the tail stripe. But mine is far from stock so I'm going for a "ghost" stripe....same colour as the car but just a few shades darker.

if the car had factory paint in that condition I'd say don't touch it! you do it however it looks good to you! It's been painted so it can be painted again if someones taste differs yours!

I like the tail stripes but that car is about perfect as it sits and looks great without one.

I'll cast my vote for rump stripes. Love 'em! I really thought about putting them on my Coronet, but decided to stay with the "Coronet 500" badging on the quarters. But if the letters weren't there, I'd be going with the stripes.

What wheel is that? I think we might have the same ones, in the same size. I would go with a black tail stripe on your car. Do what makes you happy with it!

I like them better without a stripe. It seems I have owned more with stripes than without over the years though. Currently have one with and one without.

To me, the stripe looks bad *** on any B body Dodge. Regardless, of it being correct or not. It’s very symbolic to a 68-70 Dodge. Having said that. Due to the color of your car. I like it, as is. Only thing I would change is a classic muscle type wheel. I despise modern looking wheels on a vintage car of any kind. But, that’s why my name isn’t on your title. Very nice car, you have.

I Had the same dilemma when I painted my car. I couldn't decide whether to go with 68 hubcaps, which I like, or Magnums, stripe or no stripe? I went with the stripe and magnums and put the caps on every now and then when I get sick of looking at the magnums. My partner just got a 70 charger with Rallyes on it so may give them a go soon as well. lol

Torn like you are. I’ve changed my mind after looking at some it the pics. I think I’d go with a black stripe. Good luck whichever way you go you have a sweet ride

Thanks for all of the feedback. I decided to order a black stripe kit. I’ll post some pics when I get it installed.

To tag onto this same thread, I have similar dilemma except I know I want the stripe. My stumbling block is what color? Phoenix graphics is sending me a color chart now from a light grey to a black to choose from, they will do custom colors. My first choice is the white but thinking along the lines of a "Ghost strip" concept also. I am sure I can get opinions from the group, let me have em please!
