Stripped pulley hole on balancer ok to helicoil ?

Is it OK to helicoil a stripped pulley hole on the harmonic balancer or is there too much rotation and stress on the pulley ? Stock 1969 3018 that doesn't see high rpm's.

A keensert would be a better choice but a helicoil would be ok.

Had that happen on my 440. Helicoiled a couple of the holes no issues.

I think that a helicoil that close to the centre of the rotation axis would not be a problem.

Would use some kind of lock tight when installing the coil. Just for safety's sake. Did a hole on a block for the head bolt and never had an issue on torque value.

Yes, blue locktite 242, just in case you have to take it back apart one day.

I also like to use Time-Sert instead of Heli-Coil when I can. It's a tube with threads on the inside and outside. Drill hole over sized, tap threads, screw in the insert, then your stock sized bolt will screw into that.
