Sub Frame Connectors

I picked up a set of sub frame connectors from a friend of mine today and have a question.
This are the bolt ins and should I just bolt them in? or weld them in? or both?

He took them off his 69 RR and had to put larger ones on it for his racing. He is in the 9's now so he had to change roll bar and connectors.

Once in I will probably never remove them unless they tweek, then I am really screwed. This is why I am not sure if I should weld them.

Welded in is definitely a more sound connection. Downside, trying to remove them.
 
Hey no sweat 68. There's a noticeable difference you'll feel once installed. Welded in, 6-8 hours with a die grinder, you'd have them back out and have some cleanup to do. No biggie. Good luck which ever route you go.
 
Weld them in!! You will be glad that you did...sometimes the bolts work loose.
 
X3 - weld them in . . .

After you weld them in, if you want to add additional strength to the frame connectors, add (2) pieces of metal that run from the side of the connector up to the floor and weld them to the floor too . . . you will not believe the additional support that will provide for your car.

Only way to do it rite. Where there a Bolt theres a moveing point !

"Yeap" weld them and do it with the full weight of the car sitting on the wheels, it also doesn't hurt to put a larger plate in place as well to spread the torque over a bigger area of the subframe.
 
concur welded but i think that set is gonna require some cutting of the floorpan as well so more welding. You may want to think about a set that will go in w/o cutting the floorpan
 
I think we will try a mock fit tomorrow and if it looks like other mods have to be made to weld in and depending how much modification needed we just might get a weld in set. I got these for almost nothing so it would be no big deal to get another set.

I was thinking just the opposite....
It looks to me like they will be cradling the rear sub frame, fitment from the bottom side "from ground up"... This would cause them to hang low.

Another suggestion to add about frame connectors - Hotchkis - and Amazon Prime.

Hotchkis sells frame connectors similar to these - you can check them out on their website.

Add this - have you ever looked up Hotchkis on Amazon Prime ? I did - you can get some very good discounts on new Hotchkis part there.

Don't forget to check Amazon out if you're looking for Hotchkis part . . . Any savings you can find these days is a good thing ! ! ! !
 
USCartool. The pro-welder I paid to install them said they went in pretty easy. Look factory to the untrained Mopar eye. Car is more rigid now like modern cars.
 
X2 on the uscartool connectors. Already cut pretty close to the contour of your floor pans. Makes much stiffer and easy welding. Just put them on a 71 RR

any even bolt in connecters are way better than no connectors at all, I'd weld them in thou, some 1" long stiches here & there, you can always cut them out {parting wheel etc.}, weld up the holes, if you want the original 100% OEM look latter... those are the easy ones to install, no real disassembly of the interior, especially if you don't weld them in...

I did put the ones I have in place and did not like them, As said previously by 67 B Body they hang to low for my taste. The only place to weld in was at the front within 6 or so inches from the cross member and they just got further away from the fram as you go back. So I have decided to go with the usacartool ones http://store.uscartool.com/mopar-a-body-frame-connectors.html They make it look original factory and I just hope they fit they way the say they do. I will find out soon,
