Surely not an A body on fbbo!!!

If you want to upgrade to a v8 you will likely need to change out the entire drive train, including the K member, rear end, suspension etc. , even the lug pattern on the wheels If I recall correctly they are different on these A bodies with slant six Had a 73 and got rid of it. Was gonna cost more than it is worth.
I had this roadkill episode in mind when I saw this car:

Friesandburger shows the engine mount adapters for /6 to v8

I'm of the mind that any 2 door Mopar (and a lot of 4 doors) should be saved. Although $1k CDN is too much. I'd offer $500 and start looking for a 4 door with good floors and framerails to poach. Only if you have welding skills though of course. I wouldn't paint it as it looks pretty cool as-is. However the structure must be sound and safe to drive. The slanty K-member and small brakes pull down the value some I think.

Hi from Alberta. I’m with runcharger on this one, I probably would start at 3 or 400 bucks. Not a great car.

I have restored two darts, one a 67 and a 68. They make floors, truck floors, trunk floor extensions, torsion bar cross member, rockers, quarters and I think frame rails and aprons. I am not to sure if they are doing the fenders on these yet. But that is a lot of body work for a bare bones (slant 6, three on the tree). If you decide to go a v8 you would not have to change bolt pattern, you may not have to change the rear end depending on how much power you want from a v8 and how you plan on driving this. The only reason I changed out the 7 1/4 for the 8 3/4 rear in my slant six dart was because I wanted the 10" drums for the highways around Pittsburgh and it was much easier to find a suregrip in an 8 3/4 than a 7 1/4. Faded the 9" a time or two, but that was because I really wasnt driving the car responsibly at the time.

You can get engine, trans, suspension and steering parts for it. A lot of the interior stuff is reproduced as well. The part and knowledge base is there to get that up and running properly but even at 1,000 I believe that is a touch much. Throw him something a little more than scrap value and go from there. That car needs everything

UPDATE: I was just bargaining with the seller and he would not give me a starting point and insisted that I made an offer. So I says fine, $500. He says, I was offered that for the two doors….
So I guess there’s no duster for me in the near future. But nothing gained, nothing lost.
And just for the record: a lot of guys chiming in about the cost of this and that yada yada. I never intended to have any body and paint work done to it nor interior work other than maybe a blanket on the bench seat. I appreciate the advice but am well aware of autobody costs and reproduction parts. I just wanted a cool beater to dink around with.
Oh well, more time and money for my Charger!
Thanks, everyone

You never know, he might call you some time and take the offer. Yes repro stuff is available but that investment would only make sense for a 340 car. You're dialed right in with what to do with this car. Hopefully it moves out of that spot within the near future rather than succumbing to the elements.

Dorks that are selling that REFUSE to state a price need a hard kick to the ***.

I know what I have so dont try to low ball me.

As others have said, WAY too much work there - so unless you posess all the skills, have a pile of
parts waiting and a ton of time on your hands, why??

5 years ago I found out that a fellow near where I lived had a 1960 Pontiac Bonneville - full load and in decent shape. I offered him $500. He said no way, minimum he would take was $3500 and that when restored it would be worth $$$$. I said thanks but no thanks. One month later he calls me and says the car is still for sale - and that he had to get rid of the car because he was moving next week - you guessed it - I bought it for my original offer. So one never knows what may happen.

And here we go with just another classic case of a jerk knowing he's got junk, but waiting for someone to offer him stupid money. Seen it time and time again. Seller NEVER divulges an asking price. Hopes some dummy will throw a high offer at him. When he gets a reasonable offer, out comes the old excuse " I've refused 3x as much", or "parts alone are worth yada-yada". And the car will sit there, and sit there, and sit there........

Exactly, happens over and over. I just hate seeing the cars turn from restorable to dust.

It cracks me up all these guys who claim something is a parts car or junk etc, seems like the same dudes who think any G2 Charger is any shape is worth $10k..

I’d pay $1000 all day long for that duster and I am not an A body fan, you don’t have to restore it, just make it functional which does not cost $50k. Depending on the level of rot you could probably make a driver for under $3k with some hard work and enjoy that car on the daily.

Got to love the internet (btw if that was on eBay it would start at $5k and probably sell for $7k to some builder making a stupid expensive hotrod for someone with deep pockets)

Slant 6 Duster vs. G2 Charger are a galaxy apart, not even in the same discussion. And, I doubt you'd get anywhere close to a decent driver with 4 grand on that car.

I never said that they were equal only that so many will drool at a G2 charger that is rusted to the body like and line up to pay stupid money yet they will look down their noses at everything else.

As to this particular Duster, I will stand by my statement. I didn't say it will be "nice" but it would be usable.

Parts car, and not a very good one at that. Unless it has some rust free sheet metal somewhere, what are you going to sell? Some glass, grille (if it isn't broken), taillights, and maybe the instrument cluster? A 225/903/7 1/4 has virtually no value. Same goes with manual 9" drum brakes, pounded bench seat, and cracked dash pad.

I can get you into this beauty for a little less than a grand. Don’t lowball me, I know what I have!

Indeed... because of what IT IS. A G2 Charger, one of the best designs in automobile history.
