What constitutes a survivor car? Any specifics they look for? Just curious. Thanks in advance.
Who is Mel? They have one at the nats in Columbus tooIf you're referring to Mel's survivor tent at Carlisle, contact him for specific info. I've had my original 79 Cordoba in his tent a couple of times.
Baby Blue fell into this category, two repaints, not a survivor, but never restored. Car was cared for from day one, parts replaced with Mopar OEM as they wore out. Raced and driven 120,000 miles, original engine never apart. My Charger had a repaint in 1967. From the Original Dealer. I cannot class mine as a survivor. Just a good looked after car.
Unfortunately your car will not qualify as a survivor because of the repaint. One of the things Mel will check is the paint thicknes.Mine has had a cheap repaint over the original paint. Never been restored and never had the engine out.
Exactly. My HP2 has only 9941 original miles on it, yet it is not a survivor. You guys can get mad all you want. They have rules for this survivor tent. There are not a lot,of,cars that fit the criteria. the whole Carlisle fairgrounds is not a survivor class. LOL.
