I'm looking for more information on parts interchange between B and E bodies. From what I have read the 2 are very similar. My father and I have a 73 Charger that we are rebuilding and would like to change over to coilovers up front and a 4 link with coilovers in the rear. I know 73 was the year for some major suspension changes in the Charger, but could you swap back to 72 and earlier or install E body suspension? I have no problem doing some light fabrication, but any option that would be bolt in would be ideal as the car is numbers matching, and we would like the option to go back to factory easily if needed. Any insight would be appreciated.

In 73 the BBody upper and lower control arm changed. Everything is bolted to the KFrame and the Kframe is "isolated" from the body with 4 rubber bushings (which can be replaced with solids)

Lower control arm: Larger bushing, screwed/pressed ball joint & strut rod became a bolted on deal (2 bolts) and looked like a hockey stick

Upper control arm: no longer used adjustable cammed bolts for adjusting allignment but used a *bar with 2 virtical bolts to adjust allignment on a removable plate bolted to the Kframe.

I can post excerpts from the 73 BBody service manual when I get home from work tonight if you like

IMO you cannot without major mods (if at all) change the 73+ BBody suspension back to a 72- or Ebody front suspension... rear on the other hand not so bad a conversion and many have, just a little harder to find 8.75 rears for 73+ (3 or 4 link wouldnt ba any harder or easier than any other year IMO)

Thanks for the information. Sorry to keep asking away, but I'm more familiar with coil based suspensions, and sort of clueless when it comes to torsion bars. I'm looking for more of a pro touring suspension set up. Something that is a good compromise of handing and ride quality, while lowering the car a few inches overall. Any suggestions on where to start? Our overall power goals with the car are 700+ HP, so I need a setup that will put the power to the pavement.

What you described (...a good compromise of handing and ride quality, while lowering the car a few inches overall...)...

...is...the torsion bar!!

...and it's even user tunable.
