Hi all, I have just put an order in for a Indy Tunnel Ram with a twin 4150 top and enderle linkage kit. The car is a 71 Barracuda, 12.5:1 528, Indy 370cfm heads, 720 solid roller, 727 and 4500 stall, it is a play car, street/ strip/ showoff

and events car that has run a bad 60' 10.60@130 with 1050 dominator.
Plan is to be able to switch between the single Dominator set up and the tunnel, I also have a few glass hoods.
I was thinking of going to E85 just for the tunnel ram set up, maybe twin 850cfm ? I have 98 pump just down the road, E85 about 45mins away and I can get Avgas by the 205 drum 1 hour away Any advice welcome.
Ad to this I have a 63 Max Wedge Plymouth that the tunnel may be used on as well.

DVW or SUPERSTOCKRACER ?

Cheers
Al

I have posted this elsewhere

Great looking car.
You're going to have to look at hood clearance 1st and go from there. I just got a indy tunnelram too for my wedge and i'm going Edelbrock 800's on top and making mine inline. With the sideways 4150, throttle cable is going to be an issue. Pedal feel, stiff, binding and not being comfortable. I modified a 4500 indy top for my edelbrock carbs.
I had to change over my gas pedal assembly and make up a new rod cutting through the firewall on my 65 light blue dodge.
My 60 foots are awesome with my edelbrock inline setup on my tunnelram intake. hope this helps

So with the side mount carbs and the Enderle linkage the pedal will feel crap ? I get how and why the inline would be better.
So would you (in my shoe's) go for Eddy 750's ? will the linkage kit I got coming still hook up to them ?

CHEERS for the reply

no the enderle linkage will not work for inline carb. It's easier and smoother, more responsive and you'll go fast. ill get you a picture of what you'll need.
pedal feel with sideways tunnelram is crap. Binds, stiff after 1/2 throttle. I went with a solid rod in my light blue dodge with sideways carbs. much better feel and smooth but it's a lot of work switching over from stock pedal.
Jus trying to save you a lot of aggravation.

i've played with some 850 vacuum carbs and some 750 dp on my 505. the 850's have a pretty wicked pull in high gear but all around i think the 750's may have them. i haven't been to the track with it yet, had some issues with the car and a busy home life. i may back to back them next year, the 750's are much cleaner and responsive for cruising around. 6109 is the Holley list number. they were made specifically for a tunnel ram..

Thank you for your info. How does the pedal feel with the side mount linkage ?

vacuum carbs have 50cc pumps on the primarys, there not too bad. the 750's have 30cc pump on the primary so thats not bad either. on the secondary side they currently have 50cc pumps (not sure if im going to leave them) and you can tell when your into them with the gas pedal. the 6109's do have overhead linkage so that helps. its not horrible but i am a little skeptical about the throttle cable lasting. i'm probably going to pick up a spare and keep it in the car, would hate to get out for a cruise and have it break.

Like I said previously, my tunnelram sideways linkage was set up correctly with full WOT and it was fine at part throttle with my stock gas pedal and stock hemi cable. I had the correct geometry and normal return spring pressure.
As soon as it got past 1/2 throttle, the cable got harder and harder to press. So when I left off the starting line, it gave me a uneven feel and I had a hard time getting a good run in. After that weekend, I went with a aftermarket pedal and a solid rod. problem solved. Now it's nice and smooth throughout the travel.

SSR, happen to remember what brand parts you went with?

I just reread my post. Here's the STEEL gas pedal. Don't use a aluminum one. lol

And then I bent up a 1/4" steel rod and put on welded rod ends on both for a nice sturdy feel.
I also did a 3/16" rod for my inline tunnel ram which worked out nice as well.

I also ran the 6109's on a 440 with a Weiand TR inline. Had to use the small bowls though but they worked great on a 10.60 car using a simple 'T' bar throttle linkage and stock pedal and cable.

Here's a few more pictures of my Tunnel ram throttle rod and gas pedal in my 65 light blue dodge
