I am looking to install a tachometer from classic industries in my 69 road runner. It never had one originally and just has the blank on the right side of the dash. Non rally of course. My question is can I remove the blank and install the square tach in its place. Part # MB321. If so, can anyone tell me which tach harness to purchase. One harness MB1823 shows specifically for non rally. The other harness MB3802 shows standard tach wiring harness. No specifics on rally or non rally. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes you can remove the blank and put in a tach. Skip that aftermarket pos from Classics, as I believe Tom has an nos unit. PM him so you don't turn this into a wtbuy post.. @moparsaver

Here's my experience with it.
Bought during covid when I was grabbing everything I could think of and that I could find.
Just got the car together in the last few months and started the engine.
With no power the needle always return to 5000 RPM
When power applied the needle goes to 500 RPM and moves no more.
Power off and it returns to 5000 RPM.
I would buy another one but it's a PITA to get the dash back apart now and would another one work anyway?
I crawled around the shifter to look and connections seem OK. (Only to of them of course.)
And I was very careful with it. Didn't even expose it to a magnetic driver.
I wanted to stay original cluster this time and bought 2 good ones on Ebay to find it.

I started to think about the behavior and figured out the problem.
It obviously might need a case ground.
Unfortunately it's a plastic housing but there is a small screw connection to the light bulb socket.
That should work IF it was the problem I thought.
Went into contortions and loosened the screw just enough for a small open spade terminal with 24 gauge Teflon AC wire to ground.
I don't want anyone to think these are not good tachs based on my post.
Would have been nice to have a heads up prior to installing it.
