On the outside. 40 plus years of grime kinda preserved it. Fluid looks pinkish, like water mixed with it? It's going to be torn down for sure.

It's amazing to me things last as long as they have. The freeze plugs for one, but they could have been replaced at some point. The fuel pump on the other hand does seem to be original. How the heck does it last that long? No wonder Chrysler almost went tits up in the late 70's.

Gonna be a great car. Just curious if this had a center console? Maybe the two holes on the top/sides of the tranny hump had the cables running through or mounting hardware? Just a thought.

It has a console but it doesn't extend past the front of the seat. Drain holes makes more sense.

There is a mystery about some holes found in the engine compartment. Looks like there was an aftermarket a/c unit at one time but there is no sign of a compressor being on the engine (has a single crank shaft pully) or condenser ect. There are two sheet metal holes under the dash and a blue and black wire that had connectors on them at one time. I'm going to weld up the two holes in the firewall but was curious about the two sheet metal screw holes on the right fender. Looks like a line bracket was there. Also does anyone know about the hole on each side of the tunnel? Any thoughts?

Also if iirc, someone else had posted an inquiry of the same type of holes in the fenderwell apron. I dont remember if they ever received an answer though, maybe a year ago...????....

Thanks Mike, I'm not racing, it's a mild build. Might make a pass or two at a Nostalgia meet but otherwise just an old school looking, street friendly, head turning ride.

Great question! Lol I did try to transfer some measurements from the motor mounts upward but it's a little hard to tell. The stock type 2x4 intake is low profile. I'm useing 1" spacers under the eddies for linkage clearance. Could go with 3/4". I'll have to wait and see, for now. Worse case scenario, I'll have to find another hood to modify...

Ordered one of these today. Thought I'd give them a try. Measures up perfect accept the right bracket is a bit short. No problem.

Harbor Freight has these adaptor too.
A little less than having to buy the whole thing.
Save floor space.
I made one from a junk flex plate with chains with out the adjustment screw.
But I used it on a manual and didn't have to jiggle it very much.

I like the price of that one. You can't buy the material and fab one up for that money. I don't trust the 2x6 on the floor jack much. And doing things by yourself, you can get in trouble real quick! Lol

I think it will boil down to which air cleaners you'll use. Another member here (Rick62, I think) is using the CH28 intake and football air cleaners and it fits under stock '62 hood - not sure if he has spacers tho..

About that trans. what year is it? Cant see in the pics to well,where is the adjusting wheel for the cable shift? Just curious....

It's a 1962

I removed the adjustment wheel with the cable

There is a spring inside holding the end of the cable

Place the shifter in reverse, thats the longest throw of the cable. Useing a small screwdriver, push the spring to the right. That will release the cable end.

All is well. Basic issues like new battery and putting Loctite glue in the side view mirror. My guys did get the transmission leak fixed. It was a pain in the rear but they found it without pulling it. The 383 in it rides like a champ. Definitely a good street cruiser. I might have to up the ante a bit in the future. I do like the 62's. I'm hooked.
