I'm thinking about running 3.73 gears in my 73 rr. The engine will be a 383 with a few bolt ons. What would be the best tc stall for a street/strip application with that gear ratio. Also not sure what tire size I would use, a recommendation for that would be much appreciated.

Picking the right stall and gear is more about matching the motor, what cam are you running? For instance a 1,500 stall converter behind a motor with a cam that doesn't come alive until 3,500 will result in sluggish takeoffs.

As indicated by 747mopar, torque converter stall depends on cam selection. Every transmission shop will ask you about camshaft lift (in): intake / exhaust; duration (@.050 in); tire size and overall diameter, and rear gear ratio. It all has to work together.

Contact Dynamic Converters or Hughes Converters they are some of the best, tell them what you have for a motor ,transmission setup and rear gears and they will set you up with the right converter for your car. I use the Dynamic 9 ½" Race/ Street, 3500 stall and that converter works great.

Features - Dual anti-ballooning plates (where applicable), triple bearing package, full furnace brazing, all fins are hand welded for extra reinforcement, bulletproof sprag and stator design great for bracket cars or serious street cars. Super efficient

Call up PTC and give them some specs. They will steering you in the right direction.
