I have a 1978 cast crank 440 with an externally balanced harmonic balancer and a torque converter with a butterfly weight. Does the weight on the tc have to be aligned with the weight on the hb when I bolt the tc to the flywheel or does it matter?
Think flexplate only goes on to convertor one way. Good idea to mark both before you mate trans to engine. Not much worse than having 2 or 3 bolts in and then the rest don't line up.
As others said, there is one offset mounting lug. In order to get all 4 bolts in, rotate the flex plate until all 4 holes line up. Make sure you have the flex plate with the correct side facing the block. Then mark (paint or something both flex plate & converter.
