Thank you, USPS, for your careful handling of my camshaft. And thank you for proving it was silly for me to worry that the cam lobes or mains might be damaged along the way.

WTF?!?!?!?! Is the Samonsite gorilla working for the USPS now? Rather that happened in the mail than in the car, (though its still BS). Damn Chinese steel. Who's cam might I ask?

So the bottom camshaft is for a "long block" and the on on top is for a "short block"? :D

I sold it to a member and this is what he received.

Looks like a dual overhead cam to me.

Maybe he used it to fight off a big dog! :icon_shaking:

and people are woundering why they are going bankrupt.

I ran a 2 year contract with USPS to OHIO mail,
Trust me, They could break a " 105 " in half if it had to be loaded in the trailer.

Cast iron is not only heavy, but it's brittle. If not tightly wrapped with multiple layers of cardboard or some type of dense poly-foam prior to boxing, then it is very suseptible to breaking if dropped, stood on end and fell over, etc. I received my 4bbl manifold in the same condition from UPS. The guy I bought it from stuck in a box with no wrapping or support. Luckily for me, I live in 'farm country' and was able to find a local shop that could weld cast iron. Don't think they would be able to make that cam usable again though.

File a claim!!!!!

I know that the USPS really sucks when it comes to handling parcels, but UPS and FEDEX aren't that much better. They break/crush/mangle a lot of our stuff too. Like Dako says, it's not really that hard to bend or snap a camshaft if it isn't handled or packed properly.

I hope you kept the packaging it came in

I had two exhaust manifolds broken by them. The guy I bought them from gave me a full refund and said that he works for the PO and knew it was their fault. I was able to get them repaired for about what I paid for them.
