Sorry just feeling kinda emotional about my dad

As another car show/season quickly approaches .....I cant help but remember all the childhood memories I had in this car .....and how when I was about 4 I thought it would look cool with flames on it ( I was 4 HUSH). But I also remember and miss my dad that alot of the memories came with ....Miss ya Dad love ya ...cant believe its going to be 7 years ....

Nick2317,

I get it.....deal with it every May....so even though I think of my Mom everyday since she passed away in '99....during this month my mind goes into overdrive! It never gets easier, but I will tell you, as the thoughts go through your head...you will think of EVERYTHING, good or bad! And in all those times i was thinking of the bad (to me, this is all the stupid **** I did or said when I was younger that got ME in trouble and pissed at my parents), that just slowly got replaced by all those good memories, even the simple little things. One of those has always been Fleetwood Mac....Rumours album, Mom used to listen to that cranked up on the stereo when she was cleaning house, so it holds a very special place in my heart! Find that "thing"....music, books, movies..whatever it is that you might have shared with your Dad, and when you get feeling down...that will be what you can turn to...hopefully to help you bring on those good memories!

Time won't heal the pain...ya just have to re-direct that pain to something better!!

Good Luck!!

Curt

My dad stopped coming down for breakfast 8 years ago in July & my mom 4 years ago next month. I know how you feel.

I guess I'm part of that club too - I lost my wife Sept. 2010 and my Mom Sept. 2013. Fortunately Dad is still rockin' it at age 84. Thanks for sharing that Nick and everyone else. Don't wait to have fun folks - it's later than you think...

The problem is that I'm well aware of how late it is.

I have the same feelings .I think of dad every time I get in my car I feel he is looking down .feel like he gives me the confidence to do things I don't know how to do . look to sky a lot when trying to work somethings out .in third year with out him

2012 here and each year, heck each week the memories bring a tear or two. Beautiful car, your pops had fantastic taste in Mopars!

Wow, great post!
I envy you guys, my dad left when I was 14
I have some pleasant memories
He always had a Dodge.
One was a 66 Dodge Dart 6-cylinder 4 door, no carpet with a 3 on the tree.
GREAT CAR, Light blue (B3?)
Then he bought a new 69 Dodge Coronet 318 car, looked like Dennis H.'s car.....

Again, great post Nick and all the rest of you that have fond memories of their Fathers.......

Lost Mom at 41 when I was 10 ... My Father was everything we had ....taught me so much without either of us realizing it.. better man than me although I try .. passed in 1982 at 67 .. I miss them both, especially when the family gets together .. my daughter was 2 1/2 when he died and he adored her, she was the only granddaughter of 8 grand kids ..now I'm 67 and I have a granddaughter who is 16 months, and I get to adore her... how things move along

Lost Mom 18 days ago now. I am still in disbelief. She had a good long life, 13 days shy of 87 years. Funny how so much of life can change in a heartbeat and you don't really notice until it's after the fact. I think I will be a while yet accepting reality.

Funny that when we grow older and loose parents how the truth of what it is really important surfaces. I lost my pop on Good Friday 4 years ago. And yes memories keep them forever in our hearts. Nothing wrong with that! My dad was very mean and hateful the last years of his life. But that cant take away the fond memories of youth.
Oh and great looking car! Love it (with out flames)LOL

Mom has been gone 11 years and I just lost Dad in January. It gets easier but you never stop missing them. I feel you brother. Awesome car

Sorry about your loss. Sounds like like a great man who left you many wonderful memories. And one helluva gorgeous veRT!
