Hey guys, I am building a 65 belvedere2 with a bench seat and column shift. I changed the column over to a 66 column as I didn't have any of the cable shift stuff. Now my 66 column rides up too high when it's tightened and rubs against the instrument bezel. I'm guessing this(pictured) part has something to do with it?? Anyone know what this part does?
Thanks so much and happy turkey day to all you guys!!

that part goes on the bottom of column, the shifter cables go through that bracket has nothing to do with holding column up at dash. I think you would have to use the 65 bracket that holds the column up I no they are different I can get you a picture but not till the weekend of a 65 bracket I just rebuilt mine but not installed yet

Hosehead! I have done this exact swap w/ my 65 Coronet wagon, using a 66 column. It works great
all turnsignal wiring uses same plug as 65 harness. Only difference I used my 65 column braket. Also
you can use a 66 later BB 727 . You will need to modify a shift braket on frame rail using all 66 linkage.
If you like I can send photos of braket installed as my car is now running w/440 cu. Works & looks
very nice. If I can help let me know...D.Dog

Hey thanks, D.Dog. I already have my car running and driving with the same set up. It's just that my steering column is rubbing on the instrument bezel. I am wondering if there is some sort of spacer in between the 65 bracket and the dash frame bolts or something. I would love to see a close up photo if you have one of your steering column mounting onto the 65 bracket. Thanks again! Cory

Hey thanks, 1965ply! Looks like I am missing the top piece that is bolted to the bottom part. I guess I'm off to ebay to look for that. Thank you so much for the photo, though. I would have never found that otherwise. I really appreciate all the help I get on this site! You guys are great!!!
