The 15 Greatest Movie Car Chases

52 years later and with all its flaws, Bullitt is still the gold standard for car chases.

I agree. Turn the lights off, crank up the sound, and you almost feel like your there. I've made the kids watch that chase scene (minus the burning bad guys) and they were like "it's making me dizzy"...yeah!

Vanishing Point, the org. was no slouch

almost the whole movie was a chase scene
or hi-speed driving of some sort

No movie car chase list is valid without mention of Vanishing Point...

Bullit, Smokey & The Bandit and the opening scene from Gator are probably my favorites, but I think they missed not adding the garage chase scene from The Hunter as well.
Dirty Mary Crazy Larry holds a special place in my heart because my dads DPS patrol car was identical, spent many a weekend washing those wheels.
It's a Mad Mad World was pretty good

Gene Hackman flick is probably The French Connection
I think it was Chicago where it took place too
he's a cop trying to get the goods on an Italian (IIRC) Heroin dealer
That's it! How could I forget. Remember the chase under I think the el train bridge thinking hitting one of the posts wouldn't end well. Thx

Yeah - kept thinking through the movie if ONLY he'd a had a big block in his car...

Despite seeing it many times, I still always root for the truck driver. Dennis Weaver's character was such a wussy, p-whipped milquetoast that I could never see him as a hero.

There's a cool YouTube channel devoted to car chase sequences. I can't find it on my phone right now but think it's called "Car Chase Wonderland" or something. If I find a link I'll post it up.

See, I just knew that women prefer a much more manly guy as opposed to the weak-suck type like he played in Duel.

Thumbs up to all of the suggestions, great scenes all of them. May I add the movie "The Gumball Rally". Having personally competed in a version of the illicit coast to coast race (1983 "Four Ball Rally"), the movie The Gumball Rally was quite true to the real thing. Much more so than the Burt Reynolds version.

Remind me not to be ahead of you on the highway...lol.

Gumball Rally was way better

Love the Cobra

With my lead foot it's rare ANYONE is ahead of me on the highway for long.

Speaking of Duel, did anyone else see Biker Boyz? I could only sit through it once, but while the biker group is cruising through those same hills they pass a black Peterbilt being led by a brown Valiant. I can't find anything in the movie's trivia or clips to share but they were in there.

** Edit. Turns out the movie I was thinking of is Torque. No wonder there wasn't any trivia lol!!
