The rules evolved to include foiling and wings etc.

All within the rules. The old 12m monohull yachts were slow and pokey....a boring race to watch. These modern foiling yachts are like they're on steroids.

Top speed in the last race was about 38 knots into the wind (which was only about 7.5 knots) .... that's 49 mph..... or 79 km/hr. That wasn't even the top speed of what they are capable of with a good puff.

I thought the catamarans they used around 2013 were the stuff. We won that time but promptly lost it to you guys again.
Those new AC boats are something to watch but I can relate to the cats more.
either way Burling is at the top of game as are you new Zealand sailors

I'm just glad we got rid of the Captain.... Dean Barker. The man who lost his grip on a supposedly unassailable lead in 2013.

It was a miracle he didn't capsize at this angle - which was estimated at 43-44 degrees.... (looks more like 60 to me)
