Can someone tell me if there is an adjustment between the master cylinder and the power booster for adjusting the length of the push rod?

Also is there anything to watch out for in unbolting the master cylinder from the power booster that would be under pressure by way of springs or something of that nature.

I'm thinking the rod is not quite long enough to make the plunger go all the way to where it should be going and therefore leaving a pocket of air.

Make any sense?

This is what I'm working with.

Baby has brakes!

Well I decided to remove the master cylinder to take a look, and yes there was a adjustment nut there which I turned out a little less than a 1/4" and reassembled it back together. Then I bled the m/c and wahlah great pedal.

I'll bleed the wheels one more time for good measure and should be good to go.:upside down::upside down::upside down::eek:s_dancing2:

That is exactly what i had to do today, I cant believe the difference. Now I got the "whoa" to match the "go".

Well had to take the master cylinder back off today as the brakes were not releasing far enough. Backed off on the adjustment and seems o.k. but I may have gone a c-hair to much I'll wait and see how it feels on the road.

joe
glad to see you got it sorted out.

Thanks Chris, trial and error. Definitely learning a lot as I go and will make the next project go that much easier. Wait , did I just type that? LOL

Next gremlin to take care of are the gauges ( fuel, temp., and oil ) I put the trio after market gauges in so I really don't care to much about the oil or temp., but the fuel would be handy. They were all redone by GCAR so I'm sure that they are ok. I'll start by putting in a new fuse and go from there. Seems like from the manual they have a common feed.

Well still not happy with the way the brakes felt I had the mechanic check them out today while getting the front end aligned.

Here's what he said, hope I say this right.

He had to undo the calibers and turn them upside down to bleed them cause he says the bleeders were at the top position and should have been at the bottom thereby making it impossible to get the trapped air out of them. Then once bled he turned them back over and remounted them. Maybe it was the other way around. LOL :head_smack:

Will pick the car up in a couple of hours and see how they are.
