The Carlisle 2021 thread

My son and I will be coming up from Texas this year, always so much to see and enjoy at Carlisle and lots of good parts to bring home for our projects. I hope the weather cooperates!

We will be bringing our 71 RR this year. Where is the FBBO tent going to be located? We will stop by and say hi at one of the meet and greet times.

July 9th -11th

You can register any vehicle in the showfield and designate FBBO as your club affiliation. I've entered my truck ( in the appropriate class) And basically use it for the gate pass. Shhhh, dont tell Carlisle.
Your show vehicle entry ( must be Mopar) gets you on the grounds for all 3 (4) days, and entry for driver and 1 passenger. No finding a place outside to park and walk!

Thursday the 8th is a swap meet early day. With an informal cruise in that same evening that is usually a good time.

@droptop, the location of the club tents are not known until approximately the second or third week of June. It will be posted on the Carlisle Events site under the program directory. As in the years past, I will post a link to the site once it is made public.

Carlisle Events places the tents in the area in which your club is mostly concentrated. So for the FBBO club tent, we would be positioned in the B-Body section. The guys over at the FABO site would have their tent positioned with the A-Bodies and FEBO tent would be in the E-Body section.

To my knowledge, only the FABO and FBBO sites have a dedicated club tent. There are a number of tents that Carlisle Events put up for the various groups who bring in a registered group of participants.

@HEMI-ITIS, nobody runs the tent as being officially assigned the task of "baby sitting" it for a particular time slot or day. As we all know, there is so much going on that weekend, I would never ask anyone to take time out of their day to be personally responsible to be a spokesperson or greeter. Heck, I have been involved with the tent in an "indirect" manner for the years that it has been in use and have never had the chance to stop in and say hello during the weekend as I am on a tight leash to my vending tent from Wednesday through Sunday.

The way that I look at it, is that the tent allows members of the Forum a common point to gather and put a face to a name. We have been doing the National type of events since '87 and from visiting many of the larger shows across the US, Carlisle offers one of the most unique events that many of the car enthusiast will ever get to experience. Anything which can further that experience only makes the event more memorable and keeps people wanting to come back and hopefully bring along their friends.

From having a rather large vendor tent over the years, I see the need to have an area where people can sit down in the shade and rest, especially when the temps and humidity are off the scale. So hopefully the members of the site and anyone needing to take a break from the weekend activities can take a seat and relax.

@hsorman and @VANDAN have been the ones to take the daily responsibilities under their watch. Very thankful that they have been so giving of their time and monetary efforts. Hawk is the one who usually takes the time to set up the informal meets and greets and last year the cook out.

The tent is for everyone and we only hope that those who make use of it will help to promote the FBBO site. Anyone wanting to assist in any manner, please post your ideals or send me a private message and I am sure everyone will be appreciative.

I suggest meeting times every 3 hours starting at 9am. I would also like to see a paypal account we could pitch into for expenses. Our volunteers should NOT bear any expense for our party:thumbsup:

There was a "kitty bank" set up the first year and enough money was raised to cover the cost of the tent. Last year with Covid, it was a different scenario as we all know. If we can get enough participants registering under the FBBO banner, then Carlisle events will take care of the cost of the tent. The more people registered, the larger that the tent that they will set up. That is why I spend the time on the promoting of the tent through the site. No matter what your registering for the show field, please register under the FBBO club banner or the club of your choice.

I agree that established times for meets and greets are needed for the larger group settings. Otherwise, guys still can set up informal meet ups throughout the day. The big thing is to have a designated area that can represent the FBBO group.

As the actual July dates approach, I would think it would be nice if a couple of you guys may determine a schedule on who might be a designated "greeter" for the different time slots. That way, Hawk does not spend his entire weekend held up at the tent and can get out and enjoy the event as well. @HEMI-ITIS, I do like the ideal of the 9, 12 and 3 time frame.

I realized last year that I had too many irons in the fire, and couldn't give the tent the time it deserved. This year, I will help sponsor at least one lunch. I haven't figured out the details yet on that - more to come later. But the bottom line is I will try to spend more time with tent preparations this year.

I pay for the tent and we have used a donation box/ "kitty bank" at the tent. The expenses go to pay for the tent and chairs. If enough, it will also be used to defer the cost of the food I will bring. I haven't really considered using PayPal much - just hoping some of the cash donations will cut down the cost. If not, oh, well.

Confirmed with mom last night, she wants to at least come up one day. '70 Charger 500 survivor, green/green/green. I'll register FBBO. Might also show a 90 Voyager factory turbo minivan...depends what ma wants to drive as the chase car. If she wants to drive the '14 Grand Cherokee Summit instead of the 31 year old minivan with factory turbo engine, a/c delete (had to make room for the intercooler!), and side-exit exhaust...well...I guess I can't really blame her!

I am not sure yet, thats a mighty long shakedown cruise after its long slumber !

This is what my Charger looked like on June 29, 2013.

The exhaust was loose and we had accidentally nicked/cut the main rear brake line.
Three days later July 02, 2013:

We drove it to Carlisle on July 12th. (No issues)
But I was pretty tired when we got there.
