I was asked to start a project thread so here it is.
Long wandering post warning!!
Back story;
I watched too many episodes of RoadKill and got the incessant itch that cremes and lotions can't cure.
I found a 67 2dr 500 roller on Craigslist a couple states away and took the plunge into madness.
It needed some sheet metal work in the floors and all dash components were missing but it was nothing that I figured I couldn't do.

I had it a couple months with just part searching and figuring I would just hack some sheet patches in the floor and search for a 383 or 440 building a ratty muscle car. While again searching craigslist I found a complete bone stock 67 4dr "cornet" that a salvage yard had for sale.
I went to look at it and trailered it home.
Now this 4dr was an actual time capsule. In the car was all the paperwork, original paperwork from dealer purchase. Newspapers from 1971 with headlines relating to the Vietnam War. In the trunk were vintage automotive chemicals, rad hoses,, a vintage aftermarket jack along with the original. The seats and carpets were covered for protection. Just a beautiful specimen.

Researching the owner who had passed away I found someone with the same name from the same town had robbed a bank in the 50's. Doing the math it is possible he spent some time in prison and purchased this vehicle after his release. So I've named my project the Getaway Coronet, hold on I know it's not THE car but artistic license is being used.
More pics to come.

Ok, I’ll ask what the heck is that car sitting on and why.
I believe it was a support for a pipeline. The salvage yard put it up there because they didn't want anyone thieving parts or messing with it. He told me it was in front of their office and people were sitting on it taking pictures. He said there was a badge on the grill I'm assuming the owner put an R/T badge on it and someone asked to buy it. He wouldn't sell the badge, then it mysteriously disappeared. He stuck it on the pillar after that.

You can see the dents where the badge was in this picture. About the right position for an R/T badge. Again I have no idea what was there I'm just guessing.

More pics please and maybe an option breakdown.

I've seen some oddly optioned 66/67 4D 500/500 SE's.

The 4dr is a 440 but here is the build sheet info I have compiled. Not sure how accurate because the 4dr bench isn't split.

This is just the beginning for you because there’s only going to be more cars that you are going to acquire as you progress in this adventure. Never too many, just not enough
Looks like a nice time capsule

I already have plenty of cars, but this is my first dip in the mopar world.

This Coronet appears to be another White Hat Special car. This was a spring sales promotion that bundled some popular options together as a package. These cars always had a white vinyl top and the front fender turn signal indicators that were usually seen in Coronet 500's. A lot of these cars were painted bright blue metallic, matching the colour scheme of Dick Landy's 1967 Super Stock Coronet. Dick was often seen wearing a white cowboy hat, inspiring the name of the option package. I have only seen these package cars built as Coronet 440 series. Another member has recently come up with a 2-door hardtop.

White Hat special could also have a white painted roof.

Was not always vinyl.

Paint code would then be xW2 (where x= the body color).

Majority of the floor pans are out now. More cleaning up is needed.
I had to repair the inner rocker on the passenger side where the crossmember mounts. The rust had eaten through. I cut back to solid metal and used 14ga for the repair.

I fit up the crossmember so I could see some progress. It's just sitting in not tacked. I need to cleanup the floor pan to firewall area and fix some rusted spots.
Not much crossed of the list yet

Floor pans are in and painted with epoxy primer.
I pulled the dash to paint it and got it back in.
I used rattle cans, a semi gloss black base coat with a dry spritz of a flat black. Came out pretty close to stock finish.
I had to repair my heater ac controls. Every nipple was broken off.
I drilled them and installed some 1/8 inch diameter soft copper tubing using epoxy to seal them in.
I don't have the funds to send it out. If it doesn't work I will have to send it out eventually.

I bought some tires for the black steel wheels and will be running the stock hubcaps. There were some 15 inch aluminum wheels on the two door but I don't like them and the lug holes are a bit warbled from improper lugs. This also saved me $400.
I should have painted the rims, the looked better before fresh rubber was installed.
Painted the ugly steering wheel and finished the dash instrument install.
Took a trip out to Clay and Sons to pick up some sail panel trim and admire the square miles of mopars.
Installing carpet today. I found if I clamp the edge for awhile it form's rather nice in this 90 degree weather
