The Goat Gets Revenge

Rich,
Ha Ha... $10K is a lot of $$ to spend to beat your car AND I'm not sure it was worth it! Frankly, I think your start was a little weak. With much RESPECT to you. But it looked like he got you on the line.
Oh well, the saga continues!
:thinker:

the GTO had him all the way it looked like, low 13's for 10k not really worth it, And he won by something like 8 tenths, that's a very nice looking 69 RR you have there though...

He dropped 10k into the car and it only ran a low 13 ! It looked like a 13.14 at about 105 ? I mean its a nice GTO but I would be disapointed if I dropped 10 K and was still in the 13's. No disrespect meant but I did not spend that much for all the parts I bought to build my 493 including new headers and exh system. What eng is in the GTO ? And yes you have a very fine looking Roadrunner. Ron

I had a 69 GTO same colour as your rival's 70, mine was 400 ram air 3 and I could squeeze just into the 13's with around 380 HP recond engine.
For his $10,000 into his 455…? he could have put a deposit on a BBody.
Get a re run and you will get him with a better start.

I have to agree with you, he had a bad start.:3gears:

I want a redo

A little harder launch and you had him. In 1969 I was hired to drive a Ram Air III Judge at OCIR. Stock engine with only 5000 miles. Hooker headers through the stock mufflers and street tires as they wouldn't let us run slicks due to no shield. Ran consistent 14.20's all day. Best of 14.06 in the morning. So I would say that guy spent the money in the wrong places to only be running in the low 13's. Go get him.
Dan

He never said that the $10,000 was just on the motor. He could have meant that after he spent $10,000 on redoing the car(body, paint, interior and motor).

I used to have (many years ago) a 67 "GOAT" with a 400" motor - stock heads, block, rods, cranks, etc with a mild cam, aftermarket intake and headers and she ran a 13:78 with an open rear end. I think I had all of $3500 in the motor back then so this guy, even with today's bucks, should be in the 11-12 sec ET's with that money spent!

Go beat him the next time round!!
