Well I guess its about time that I started a restoration thread on the 68 Roadrunner. I'll preface this by telling you , that I've had this car for a while, and really only got started on it about three years ago. A numbers matching 68 Roadrunner 383 spd car . Lots of options . Power 4 piston disc brakes, p/s, tinted windows, dash tach,am/fm radio, rear defogger, special bumper guards, 323 sure grip , and more. Start with pics of car assembled. never taken apart before me. Found gas reciepts from the 70's and full tab beer tops under seats and carpet, also coins from taht era. Areal time capsule. More pics coming of dissassembly

After I got it back from stripper we eraticated bad metal , not mutch, still has all original panels and floors. I'll bet there wern't 4 spots to fix that a dollar bill would not cover. After I checked and wire brushed some areas , I took it to a powder coater, who powder coated it with soft grey body work ready stuff. I was amazed at how it was covered in every nook and cranny. Guy only wanted $700 for the job !!. More pics to come .!!

Looking great already... Good luck with it, same color when done?

Stunning, it looks great! And the shop too, looks better then my house does inside! This car will be awesome! Let me know when it is ready for shipping to Sweden ;)

I have not heard of this pre-bodywork powdercoating, great option. Really looks great!

Wow just awsome, keep up the good work

I was a little aprehensive about the powder coating, so I called the German manufacturer, he explaind to me that this product is softer than normal material. My concern was that the surface would be too hard or brittle for body work. Learn something every day !! LOL. Car is painted original JJ1 gold now. I did add just a little more metal flake to the mix though. Pics coming

Me either, that's really interesting and would cover like crazy...into places the primer may not normally reach. Learning lots here, also really nice job of the chemical strip..she's SUPER clean. Keep the updates coming...I'm subscribed to this one!!

Oh... and I like the photos at the chemical yard...the guys using the Mustangs and the Camaro (on the sea cans) as sacrificial annodes, so the Mopars don't rust.......never thought of that...I'm gonna hang one in the back alley off the light pole!

:poke:

Nice work Mitch, let me know if you ever need a hand w/ some of the heavy work. I need an excuse to get out of the house sometimes!

Beautiful color, That will be a sharp RR for sure.
