twins and no power

Man, glad you made it through. We lose power every once in a while, sometimes for 24 hours and with our twin boys (they're 2-1/2 now) it's pretty dicey. 6 days... glad it's back on and no flood damage!

the place i bartend at survived..its right across the street from the ocean..i have a special pass from the police dept. to go down and work on clean up...it is unreal..the pics don't do it justice.

Man I feel and am praying for ya all. Sure alot of damage. Hope you guys can recover ok. I have friends that have a summer place in Ocean Groove NJ. Awesome little town next to Asbury Park. We go hang on the beach there sometimes after Carlisle. They have a big church facing the ocean that was built by shipbuilders. Its just amazing. I was fearing the worst but seems that the church took minium damage as well as the houses there. Did wipeout miles of the boardwalk. Guess it could have been worse there. Heres a clip I found.

Again praying for you all.

the bottom pic has a blue slide from a playground on the beach.

Can't help but wonder how many mopars got destroyed along with everything else. I know thats the last thing on their minds with houses destroyed, no where to live or eat or anything, and rightly so. I couldnt imagine having my life turned upside down like that in a matter of hours. I really feel for them.

Glad you made it out ok. We were lucky and didn't have any major damage and only lost power for 4 days... Half the roof of one of our wooden sheds went over the house and landed 5 feet from my 69'. I couldn't believe it, and yet our neighbor who left their trash cans and trash bags on the side of their house didn't move an inch throughout the storm...

this pic of the mantoloking bridge is amazing
there is still a inlet there..

yup...some got no damage..and some sections of Belmar still have 5 ft of water almost to Main St. We were very lucky. my father in law lives on a lagoon in Brick, and got no water except for the garage, and both neighbors on either side lost their 1st floors..luckily my uncle moved his 62 Impala 409 and '07 XLR-V to higher ground or they'd be gone..4 feet of water in the garage.
We had no heat or power..so we jockeyed to houses with gas fireplaces.

That's crazy... It is hard to believe the pictures of the shore. I was at Seaside last month and now it's completely gone... I can't imagine being one of those people who have to come back to find their house wiped out.

Oh man, glad to hear that you came out of it ok. We stayed during hurricane Ike and in the middle of it, I was thinking that maybe we had made a mistake but everything turned out ok. We live 9 miles from Galveston Bay and the eye came in about 10 miles north of us. It was huge eye and we were in it for a good 45 minutes. Galveston got nailed pretty good but Boliver (just north east of Galveston) was totally wiped out! Hurricanes suck!

Glad your family made it thru.I keep seeing on the news about the long lines for gas and diesel. East coast will be cleaning up for sometime.

Glad you and your family are safe!

It's good to see your all safe & well, kind of makes you think about what is actually important in life, doesn't it ??... I wish you the best in the troubled times to come.... wow 5 week old twin boys, that must be a handful, especially with out any power... I had twin girls, many moons ago now, what a handful, but I never went thru anything like what your going thru, the 1989 Loma Preitta {spelling}, Oakland, San Francisco, centered in Santa Cruz Calif. areas, big Earth Quake was real fun, but we were a ways away, we had brown/black outs for a week or so, some damages form the house rocking & rolling, power & water off & on, horrendous traffic issues everywhere, especially trying to get to work across the bay, but that pails in comparison, to the damage you guys have right now, thank God... Good Luck & stay safe, take care of them precious babies...

it was bizarre...totally went into primal mode (hunting/gathering) for my family. I totally under-reacted to the threats of the hurricane, and will never do that again. I drove 40 miles to buy a generator. couldn't get to the exit ramp..so i drove my jeep on the grass slaloming between trees and the offramp sign, parked on the shoulder and ran to the pep boys. The next goal was finding gas daily for the generator...standing on line w/ 5 gallon cans for 90 minutes every day, there was $20 max on gas..even today there is a gas ration by license plates like the 70's. Still feel so lucky..you can see from the pics/links people lost their homes..literally floated away. And the homes that are still there have been getting looted each night.

Freaken' a--hole scum bags/looters should be shot on sight...
