I didn't think that in 1980, but in the '60s I did think that by the time I was of driving age, we wouldn't be driving cars anymore but something like this.

In the mid 80s, I stumbled across a Playboy magazine from the mid 60s. Aside from the main content of that magazine, there was an article with depictions of a possible future by the year 2000.
Yeah… I was shocked to learn that they had articles too.
Anyhow….
The drawings looked like a snapshot of the Jetsons cartoon. Everyone living in these elevated pods above ground with landing pads for their flying cars. Even then in 1986 I knew it was bullshit. Here we are almost 40 years later and aside from cell phones and bigger government, things look the same.
