The Roach

I was making some good electrical wiring progress today and checking polarity with the steering column just sitting on the floor when the the ignition switch fell apart. :BangHead:

Got a new one on order now.

You jerked when you should have squeezed... didn't ya!

I didn't jerk or squeeze anything. The column was all together & I was turning the key switch & the fuel pump was working, then a fuse blew, an then nothing. Checked the switch with a continuity tester & I found that the hot wire was grounding to the column. So, apart it came.

Better now than when you're down in the Bronx's
I was working in the South Bronx, running a trucking terminal in the Hunts Point Market in 1992. My daily driver was my '62 Imperial. When the coil crapped out on me, and left me stranded on Hunts Point avenue, I dumped my water bottle's contents into a rag, and cooled it down, as the vultures started to circle. Got spark back, and limped back to New Jersey. Amazing what you can do when you have no choice.

Murphy's Law is in effect...

good luck with that, lil' pain in the asses as it goes, never fails

looks like you're handling most all of "it" well
I can't wait

Another little snag; after filling the radiator, the next morning I found a coolant leak at the back of the engine where the heater hoses attach to. I thought it was a loose hose clamp, but it turned out to be a pin hole where the bracket welds onto the tube. The intake manifold had to be pulled to get the tube out, which runs under the intake & into the water pump.

A replacement is about 32 bucks and I’ll order one today.
