Mine is a bit different.

Things have changed in the last 10 years. Mine was a plug and play, once you got the wires run down. Mine worked basically like Greg stated. You got this, looks great,!!

Out of everything I’ve done on this car, most of all, I was dreading wiring the MP harness and the Dakota dash wiring. The directions for both were not as clear as they could or should have been. That said, the MP harness only had 6 or 7 wires to connect & now that I’ve done it and understand it, my fears were unfounded. The Dakota dash’s wiring diagram was generic and I feel that they could have been more brand specific and whether you were using an old school V8 or a modern engine.

Now that I have all that behind me, I feel that I’ve gone over the hump and what’s left to finish up will be a piece of cake.

That is right where I mounted mine.
I hope that your windshield does NOT leak. Mine does. I thought it was my wiper pivot seals so I replaced them a couple weeks ago.
For the second time, water got through and got something wet and the dials on the gauges froze in place. I parked at a store and came out, they went to zero upon restart but then they slowly swung to the right, back to the left, to the right like slow moving windshield wipers.
In 2017 or 2018 I had this happen...I washed the car, saw water dripping inside then the gauges quit working. Later once they dried out, all was fine again. I pulled the windshield to learn that the guy that installed it used ZERO sealant. When I reinstalled the glass, I used this:

Afterwards, it seemed like it was okay. Obviously it isn't.

I thought that you'd most dread the lack of power windows. :)

The wiper pivots are farther forward from the dash cluster, so I'm going to say that it is your windshield.

Obviously, mine was leaking. I'm going to be sure that it really gets gooped up during installation.

Things have changed. I was told by Dakota that the control module shouldn't be mounted on the firewall next to any electronics due to possible interference. They also stated that it couldn't be more than 7 feet away. That's why I mounted it in the passenger side kick panel on two cars. Oil, temp, and trans ran separate from the harness, there might have been more, I can't remember now. There were wires in the car harness that I follow back and just headed off. I admit I wasn't looking forward to messing with that nasty bundle of wires. How many shades of brown or green or brown or green with a stripe in it can a man deal with. I changed the locations of power windows, power locks and the remote trunk opener to the console on one car. Batteries always went in the trunk and I always added a painless auxiliary fuse block in the trunk near the battery, just in case. The rest is locate, and bolt in place, well a little more than that, but you're right, back to things you can look at and figure out, reverse order. Looks great and it won't be long now, aside from a few hiccups here and there, standard equipment when you're mixing apples with oranges. It's more fun when you build a car your way and some of their rules go out the window, and new ones from you come in. To me, that's building a car........... Keep smiling!! LOL

Mark, assuming that system still uses the tiny buttons to change settings be sure to mount them in a convenient location where you can push the buttons and see the changes simultaneously.

Thanks, I realized that this morning and have to remove the small box from where I mounted it.

Must've been the same guy that installed mine. :mob:.

The guy I found that was able to fix it also used the 3M stuff. Gooped it in the windshield frame and all in the gasket groove and so far so good.

The #8609 is like what is used on windshields that have no gasket. It hardens to a point where future windshield replacement requires destroying the gasket since the goop hardens so much.
