Things really this bad?

Up to 12,100 now. It has like 51 minutes left. It could triple in price.

I don't understand why people list cars at a starting price way below the reserve they actually want - that just makes it take longer for the bids to start creeping toward the actual asking price. If he won't go lower than, say, $20k, why not list it as $20k and then see if anyone wants to bid even higher?

They start the bid lower to get folks that wouldn't bite at the 20K mark to bight at 5-10K lower. The seller is hoping that one of those lower bidders gets wrapped up with the car and some of the competitiveness with the bidding till the end or their wife strikes them with an ax.

That's a nice lookin' 'Runner. An aquaintance of mine had one same color, but with a black vinyl top, painted wheels with dog dish caps, and redlines, and a set of magnum 500s and he sold it up here for low 30's.

that car has been on there for a few months. he keeps re-listing it. i've seen up around that 20g mark before. i think people are probably tired of bidding on it, who knows what the reserve is.

Ended at $18,600 reserve not met. They just keep relisting till someone eventually gets to what they want. I was looking at a couple cars they had at one point. Seems like you'll never get a "great deal" there, as with most dealers.

Nice car, its worth more than 18 for sure

I basically had the exact same RR a few times, looks just like one of mine 3 cars ago, it's a very nice car, a 383ci 727 8-3/4 w/3:55.1 nice black bucket seat interion, typical Car Dealership trying to get top dollar & relisting multiple times, to get people in the door or call etc., maybe even a bait & switch ploy, to bring traffic to the site, knowingly overpriced... IMHO a fully restored base 383ci 727tf auto, 69 RM21 RR is a $20K car, give or take a few thousand $$$ either way, depending on how many listed for sale/availability, options, milage, color, correct restoration, matching #'s, etc.

it's not 2007 anymore when these cars were allot higher in value...

X3. You certainly can't use an asking price for any classic car as a gauge for anything except maybe how serious the seller is about selling his car, if it's a private seller. The asking price from a dealer means absolutely nothing to me. I enjoy going to a dealer and just lowballing the hell out of them, then when they get all indignant just say, "My offer is no more ridiculous than your asking price.

Are we perhaps seeing the "Barrett Jackson" syndrome?

It seems to me that years ago when Barrett Jackson first showed up on TV, and people saw what the cars sold for, they all thought their cars were worth silly money.

Vanguard motors have the car listed on there site @ 29,900. I,ve been watching the 68 Super Bee as it is a decent looking car for the same price. The Bee is bringing bids over 20k. on e-bay

Over insure it and have an electrical fire.

Seems to me that 383 cars top out in the high teens to low 20's....at least around this area.

There are a few things that made me raise an eyebrow on that car. One is the frame rail patch. Why is it there? The second is the rear marker lights being painted over in from the trunk side. Things like that make me think there are more hidden issues with the car. Neat car, but some of the details make me leery.
