How long will the power grid hold up? A lot of people (large swath) in US are under the sweltering weather right now.

Well we lost power here in Nth Reno at 5:15 local. NV En energy said "unknown reason." Finally came back on just before 8:00 pm. Reno area I live wants to expand by building 5k new homes. We have a H2O issue here but not as bad as else where but the electrical power grid infrastructure is not up to par. Now with these new home proposals, you can see the handwriting on the wall. No way do I support any new building!!!cr8crshr/Bill

On the way home from the drags here in socal last night, i saw an electronic message board on the freeway, begging people not to use appliances between five and ten p.m., the grid is not up to it. Only in the high eighties here, not 120° like my place in arizona.
Anybody see a problem with adding five million new electric cars in a few years?

I've always believed that if a city/state has to import electricity, water etc to sustain itself, it is overpopulated. The only reason those big cities want growth is for tax revenues and pad their pockets.

Same thing here in the Las Vegas valley. They have commercials touting SAVE WATER!! mean while the news reporters are saying Lake Mead is at a dangerous low level. Have they stopped building ? NO. When you look at all the parks (with every housing project it is mandatory to put in a park) they are flooding the grass and more water on the side walks running down the streets than on the grass. That's the government for ya..

I worked for G.E. for 38 years, Power Gen Division. Nukes and "Dirt Burners". All the environmentalists
said coal was dirty and Nukes were dangerous and expensive. Now all of the snow runoff is diminishing
and they're closing all of the coal plants. where in the hell do they think the electricity is going to come
from??? With air conditioners running 24/7 we all have a problem! Come on Elon!

Just like the major Casinos in Vegas with all the lights and Billboards along with the huge water features spewing water all day long evaporating thousands of gallons into the atmosphere. But the City/County will demand you to conserve.

Actually they work great here in north Florida if you can stand the sound of a small turbine in your ear. They go in one end of your house and pull air horizontally and that happened to be my bedroom growing up.

Yeah, the ones designed/made/sold in the 70's... Modern whole house fans are pretty quiet.... I have one of these... It runs all night as long as the outside temperature is below 80 degrees (and above 60 degrees)

Draws air from each bedroom and the living room... The actual fan is mounted in the attic on a rubber isolated mount.... It's not any louder than the typical air conditioner & a heck of a lot cheaper to run....

Agree totally.
This was actually 1970 when it was in my bedroom.
God forbid you forget to chalk all the interior doors open or it would about slam them off the hinges when you turned it on.
They have come a long way since then.
