Factory "Undercoating" is very sparse. The entire bottom is not coated and it was also done after assembly.

Like Greg mentioned every car got sound deadener in the wheel wells.. Undercoating was optional & every car I've worked on that had it was covered completely & quite heavily... As in more than 1/8" & close to 1/4" thick...

Trust me... full factory undercoat, J55, covers EVERYTHING...

This GTX had at least 1/8" everywhere and mostly 1/4" even as much as 3/8" in some spots. That said, the material in the wheel wells looked very similar to the undercoating but maybe they just shot it everywhere.
