three barrel Holley ??

You would laugh if I told you what I imagined before when people discussed 3 BBL carbs before this thread ha ha! Or actually I'm sure you have a pretty good idea !!

Imagine 3 tubes LOL.

I would love to have one of these things now although I doubt I ever will unless I stumble upon a good deal or pick one up in a car purchase or something.
I just happened to stumble across one of these carbs and i have been search all over the net trying to figure it out. Just curious as to what you would consider a good deal for one would be?

Well I'm a cheap ***,but if it was rebuilt and depending on the cfm... $550.
well, i haven't been able to dig far enough into al the numbers on it but from what i have found so far it is a 1030 or 1050

Are you actually wanting to buy one?

No, I am not looking to buy one. I have one that I would like to sell. The date code on it is 951 and from what I have been able to find out is that it was made the first week of May in 1969.

Back in the day, a classmate had one on a Ford LTD 400ci and said that it got fairly decent gas mileage for that type of car.

You can see and figure out the date code but didn't see the list number that ID's the carb? Both numbers are usually in the same place on the air horn.

The 3916 and 4604 do not have an air horn, the list number it stamped on the top of the main body on driver side.

Yes I have the list code it is a 4604S. The problem is with the websites that I have came across while researching this carb, they have conflicting cfm's some say 1030 and some say 1050.

Thank you for having my back on that one. I got a little heated over Meep-Meep's comment. I hear dumb things like that all the time since I am a female.

:iamwithstupid: there is one on flea bag/e-scam for $375 #3916 I think it was, buy it now price... I ran a modified Holley 3bbl 950cfm VS for years, on a 69 RR "Blue By U" RM21 3500# ran 11.60's with a Bill Stamerjohn built 446ci Wedge, with ported 906 iron heads, 4 speed & 4.10 Dana, in the late 70's, picked up about a tenth over the original 850cfm DP Holley 4bbl I had at the time "out of the box" on a Ported Edelbrock single plane Tarantula manifold, w/2" Hooker super comp headers... It was great carb, easily tuned, many parts are still available, most parts are interchangeable between the 4bbl & 3bbl too, the only real difference was the base plate & secondary's... but some changes in the NASCAR design, I never owned one of those... the 1050 were down leg tube rear boosters, IIRC originally intended/designed for Nascar Boss 429 Hemi apps., for super speedways & wide open throttle, not really street driving... I think there were 3 sizes & styles 950-1030 & 1050cfm at one time or another, depending on application... not sure how many they made or for how long, but they are still out there & for much less than that $1200 price...

Rebuild kits available for the 3bbl. Carter?

Carter made less than 25 3636S three barrels, doubt you will ever find one, original application was 63 Pontiac Super Duty.

Were there not a aftermarket version of these Carter 3bbl. carbs?
Some made for NASCAR?
